5 Ways to Keep Teaching During the Coronavirus Pandemic

March 19, 2020

Technology affords many of us the opportunity to stay connected, continue serving our communities, and even practice Pilates together. Here are some tips to keep teaching during the Coronavirus Pandemic:

1. Take care of yourself.
Put your “oxygen mask” on first so you are able to help others. Take some time to take care of yourself, after all, you are the vehicle of self-care for so many. You can do this by practicing Pilates, eating nutritious foods and staying hydrated.

2. Explore digital tools.
IGTV, Facebook Live, YouTube Live, Zoom and Skype are some of the many digital platforms you can use to offer classes.

3. Don’t worry about your space.
Your space doesn’t need to be Pinterest-Worthy in order for you to host an online class. Find some nice lighting, clear out any clutter, and grab your smart phone or laptop and go for it!

4. Create a schedule for your online offerings.
Think about what kinds of classes you can offer and at what times. Once you have your schedule nailed down - use your mailing list, social media, or your website to get the word out to your clients.

5. Consider both paid and free classes.
The choice to offer everything for free is generous, but it isn’t always sustainable. Consider offering some classes for free and others either by donation or for a fee. You can use tools like Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, and PayPal to collect money.
