COVID-19 Pulse Survey #2 Results

August 4, 2020

About the Survey
During the extraordinary spring of 2020 marked by COVID-19, where self-quarantine, business shut-downs and global uncertainty are part of our daily lives, the PMA has ceased to carry out “business as usual.” We have prioritized generating resources and support material to best assist the Pilates community during this time.

As a follow-up to our April 2020 survey on how COVID-19 is affecting the Pilates world, this survey aims to “take the pulse” of the industry months into the pandemic, so that we can all better understand what the profession is experiencing now, how that experience has evolved in recent months, and what support the PMA can provide in the coming months.

Executive Summary
In April 2020, the PMA sent a survey to its entire database of approximately 25K records, consisting of both Members and non-Members. In July 2020, we sent a follow-up survey to the same group. The answers to our surveys provide an overview of how Pilates professionals are functioning during the pandemic, what solutions they are employing and what issues they are finding the most challenging.

The responses to these surveys help us identify which support materials our community needs next. We appreciate all the responses we received and hope that reading the results is helpful.

What’s next
As a result of these surveys, we have selected a range of topics for upcoming blog posts, email blasts and social media “lives”, covering issues that our respondents most want to hear about.

We are also planning additional surveys to continue taking the pulse of our profession as the current situation evolves.

We hope that these survey results have created some context to better understand how Pilates teachers are being affected by COVID-19, and how they are responding. The survey has definitely helped the PMA know what actions to take next to support our community.
