Effective Date
The updated eligibility will take effect on January 1, 2027*
* Graduates of programs that do not meet the new standards will have a six-month grace period from the effective date to apply for NPCP certification.
Rationale for Eligibility Requirements
The eligibility requirements are designed to promote clarity, consistency, and verifiability in candidate preparation, supporting readiness for safe professional practice. Establishing clear standards helps ensure that all candidates share a common baseline of preparation in the Pilates method prior to examination.
Defined learning formats, including assessment requirements for pre-recorded content, help ensure education is structured and comparable across training programs. An in-person component supports supervised, applied learning essential to a hands-on profession. Clear supervision standards reinforce quality control and consistent candidate preparation across training settings.
Together, these requirements strengthen defensibility, fairness, and public protection by ensuring candidates are adequately prepared to sit for the exam.
