National Pilates Certification Program


The NPCP supports the Pilates profession through teacher credentialing standards, competency based assessment, and continuing education guidance. Explore our mission, vision, and values below.

Our Mission

To protect the public and serve the Pilates profession by setting and upholding standards for teacher credentialing and ongoing continuing education.

We assess entry level competence through the administration of examinations developed following sound psychometric principles. Accredited by the NCCA*, we award credentials to candidates who achieve a passing score and support certificants in their ongoing professional development.

Our Vision

Every Pilates teacher is NPCP certified.
  • The NPCP is recognized through increased awareness by employers, health care industry, teacher training programs, and the general public as a professional standard in the Pilates field.
  • All teachers of the Pilates method aspire to achieve an internationally recognized third-party certification.
  • The NPCP diversifies pathways to certification and to participating in the larger conversation of advancing the Pilates profession.
