Pilates Day

Pilates Day is an annual, international, community event celebrated on the first Saturday of May every year.

The Pilates Day mission is to foster the public’s appreciation and awareness of the Pilates Method through a network of varied, innovative, and high- quality grassroots Pilates events accessible and affordable for all.

  • Purpose: To raise the profile of Pilates
  • Who it's for: Everyone!
  • How to get involved: Host or attend a Pilates Day Event on the first Saturday of May every year

Heroes in Motion®

Heroes in Motion is an international initiative founded by the PMA, inspired by instructors who are dedicated to facilitating functional movement with comfort and ease for those who experience severe impediments to motor control. The initiative supports the development of a network of Pilates teachers who offer movement instruction to such clients in their community.

  • Purpose: To provide a place where Pilates teachers interested in or already working with clients with severe movement impediments can connect with other teachers, share their work, and learn.
  • Who it's for: Pilates teachers!
  • How to get involved: Participate in the forum, share your research, and find continuing education.

How has Pilates improved your health? This is the key question asked by the Pilates is Health initiative. By collecting the personal experiences of those who have experienced transformative results by practicing this extraordinary exercise method, Pilates is Health seeks to communicate the value of this life changing system.

  • Purpose: To communicate the value of Pilates to the public
  • Who it's for: Pilates teachers and Pilates clients
  • How to get involved: Write and submit your story on the Pilates is Health website

Pilates 4 Youth

Pilates 4 Youth is an initiative of the PMA (originally conceived in 2002 as Pilates in the Schools.) The aim of the initiative is to foster and encourage teaching Pilates to children and adolescents safely and appropriately, taking into consideration the physiological and cognitive stages of development that they undergo.

  • Purpose: To help Pilates teachers teach children and adolescents safely and appropriately
  • Who it's for: Teachers (whether in Pilates or not) that work with children and adolescents
  • How to get involved: Purchase the Pilates for Children and Adolescents book or contribute research.
